The Chapel at BrewersEnd, Takeley was founded in 1808 by dissenting Christians from Hatfield Heath.
The original building was soon to become the centre of a thriving community.
Isaac Smith's father had been one of the original church planters and Isaac worshipped at the chapel as Trustee from from 1866 to 1906. He died aged 72
The first minister from 1808 was Rev John Hanson. He was ordained in 1812 and continued to minister until 1856.
One of the grave stones to the east of the chapel records the death of their only son.
This stone was laid by Mr Isaac Smith of Ashfields Farm Gt Canfield to commemorate the Old Chapel which was erected in 1808 and rebuilt in 1902. First Preacher Revd J Hanson Last service held by Rev EM Houghun

Rev Harris was the first full time minister in the new chapel. Mr Harris resigned in 1909.
The recreational hall was never to become the village hall.
The Christian school came to use the recreational hall in 1989.
Pieter Kraay was pastor at the chapel and ministered since 1964. He took assemblies at the school since its opening.
